Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out on behalf of my brother, and his families sweet 6-week-old puppy, Bella. This morning Bella was diagnosed with a liver shunt, a serious and life-threatening condition.
A liver shunt happens when blood bypasses the liver instead of flowing through it. This means Bella’s liver can’t filter out toxins, regulate nutrients, or properly support her growth. Instead of being cleaned by the liver, toxins circulate through her tiny body, making her weak, sick, and unable to thrive. As well as making her blind. Puppies with untreated liver shunts often experience seizures, stunted growth, confusion, and sadly, many don’t survive without surgery.
The only real treatment is surgery to close the shunt, which will allow her blood to flow normally through her liver so her body can function the way it’s meant to. With this surgery, Bella has a strong chance of living a long, happy, and healthy life. Without it, her time with us will be painfully short.
The cost of this surgery and recovery is far beyond what our family can afford alone, but we are determined to give Bella the fighting chance she deserves. She has already filled our hearts with so much love in her short 6 weeks of life, and we can’t imagine not fighting for her future. We want nothing more than to give Bella the chance to grow up, run, play, and be the loving companion she was meant to be.
Every single donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward Bella’s surgery and recovery care. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page will mean the world to us too.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity, prayers, and support in helping us save Bella’s life.
