Help Me Save My Dog "Aristotle"

Donation protected
My name is John Mayhew and my 5 year old German Shepherd/Corgi rescue dog, Aristotle, has to have emergency surgery at the VSH Emergency Hospital here in San Diego because he suddendly became paralyzed this morning. After an MRI and a blood work he was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD), which if treated immediately with surgery they told me and my mom that he has an excellent chance of recovery. A neurosurgeon was called in and is performing the procedure as I type this. I'm a senior in highschool with a GPA of 3.5, and am waiting to hear back from a number of colleges I applied to this fall. I have very supportive parents, but this unexpected surgery for Aristotle can't be afforded by me and my family at this time in my life. My dog is my best friend. I never thought I'd ever ask for help from others, but I don't know what to do. The estimated low-end total cost of the surgery is $9,233.16. My family and I are going to use $7,000 of money I saved for college to pay for most of it, but I don't know how I'm going to come up with the rest. Thanks for any help you might be able to afford. And if you can't give anything, please don't worry, just thanks for "listening".
