Apollo's FIP (Coronavirus) Fight

Donation protected

Apollo was adopted along with his brother, Thor from Williamson County Animal Shelter this past September when they were just 8 week old kittens.

Jason was looking forward to enjoying playful, young kittens for many years to come, and had bought many new toys for them to enjoy, including a giant cat wheel for them to run on. They were going to be spoiled and very loved.

Within weeks of being adopted, Thor began showing symptoms of FIP. Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a viral disease caused by a type of coronavirus. It is fatal in 98%+ cases.

However, there is a medicine that has been giving promising results, with thousands of cats surviving after treatment. A group of volunteers in Austin, Texas has been working to save animals like Apollo by using an experimental medicine called GS-441524.

Unfortunately medicine for treatment is incredibly expensive. Over $8,000 to be precise. And this does not include supplies, frequent blood work and radiographs (X-rays) at the vet, etc. Most owners euthanize their animals after diagnosis with FIP.

After months of daily medicine, Jason has treated Thor successfully for FIP, but now his brother Apollo is symptomatic.

While Jason had funds to treat one cat (Thor), he needs some support to help save his brother, Apollo. Jason has already spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on one of his kittens, and would hate to let Thor's brother Apollo die because of lack of funds for medicine.

That's where you come in. Help save Apollo and also help collect data to prove that GS-441524 can successfully treat FIP coronavirus.
