Impact and Support Angela Ricci Emergency Fund

Hello,

My name is Peter Ricci; Angela Ricci is my sister and best friend. I am starting this Go Fund Me account to help my sister – All the funds will be going directly to assisting Angela with her medical needs, medications, and saving her home. I will manage her expenses.

On January 12th, 2020, at approximately 9:45 AM, Angela Ricci collapsed in our bathroom and started having seizures. She was rushed to the hospital – At the first ER they told me to make amends with my sister as she was going to die. I refused to accept that diagnosis and demanded they find another hospital for her. They came back hours later and said Stanford would be taking my sister. Once she got to Stanford, they drilled a hole in her head to release the pressure and stop the seizures. They called me and told me I had to be there the next day to complete paperwork as Angela needed a life-or-death surgery to save her. She had a tennis ball-sized tumor in her head wrapped around the corroded artery. They did the surgery, which was a success, but a week later, Angela went septic. Again she faced death; the doctor did another emergency surgery to stop the leaking fluid in her head. Unfortunately, Angela ended up in a coma for 5.5 weeks. They put her on ten antibiotics to clean her brain fluid as she had a massive meningitis infection. They thought she would be brain dead but she was moving her arms and yawning. The signs they needed to see. While in her coma, she suffered another issue. She had a stroke that affected the whole left side of her body. A couple of weeks later, Angele woke up but could not form words. All she could say was “hi.”

Angela was in a step-down hospital and skilled nursing rehab for an additional six months. She came home in mid-summer 2020. She was able to see our mom for a couple of months, but then she became ill. Our mom was hospitalized for Colitis. Unfortunately, mom passed away from symptoms of COVID on Christmas Eve, 2020. Since then, we have been fighting to keep our home. The loan company has been extremely difficult to work with (Cenlar). Our mom was on a COVID relief forbearance. We were told they help us. We are in a state of emergency to get the loan caught up. They have not, and now we owe $102K in back mortgage.

This fund is intended to proactively assist with what is expected to be extensive medical expenses and to pay off the back mortgage so Angela doesn’t lose the home. She is still working hard to recover from her stroke. The road has been very long, but we need everyone’s help to save the house before the lender takes it from her.

I know Angela is beloved by so many who want to help and thought this would be the best way if you feel inclined to contribute. Knowing how giving Angela has been throughout her life as a respiratory therapist and loving person, she would never ask for help directly, but I am. However, being the situation as it is, I know the best way we can all assist is with our ability to reduce the financial burden.
