I know right now is a very unnerving time for everyone however I would like to introduce you to someone.
Meet five year old Alina Posidielova, the beautiful daughter of my colleague. Sadly, Alina is fighting for her life. On 14th January, Alina suffered a seizure her parents rushed her to hospital where she was diagnosed with a brain tumour and hydrocephalus (excess fluid on the brain). Alina had emergency surgery but sadly, as a result she lost her sight.
She was then flown to Katowice for specialist treatment, she underwent a further surgery to remove the hydrocephalus, however, the tumour remained.
Although Alina is now at home, she still needs further treatment. Two weeks ago, they learnt that the tumour had grown and needs to be removed as soon as possible. However, doctors have warned that it could take her life at any moment. If she were to have the surgery and survive Alina will face a long, painstaking recovery. It is still unknown if her sight can be restored.
Naturally, her parents are desperately searching for doctors all over the world that could save their daughter's life. The aim of the fundraising is to help pay for the necessary operations/surgeries on her head, treatment from the tumor (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, proton therapy, necessary medication), medical examinations abroad and the rehabilitation after the operation.
