Help Save a Husker

Husker is a 2 1/2 year old lab/pit mix, and quite simply one of the sweetest dogs around (as well as a die-hard Nebraska Cornhuskers fan!). My wife and I rescued him as a small puppy and he has become a loving member of our family. Since then, we have also added a brand new baby boy into the mix. He is 9 months old and the two of these little bash brothers really know how to bring the happy into our world.
This last weekend, while we were out of town and Husker was visiting his sitter friends, he was involved in a freak accident causing significant damage to his rear left leg, most notably snapping his femur as seen in the x-ray. He now requires surgery within the next week or so if he is going to have hope of a happy and healthy life again. It has been estimated to us that the costs of surgery, medications, rehab, etc. will be somewhere in the $4k - $5k range. With our family just beginning to bud, we are deeply struggling with this situation and don't have a way to afford the care he needs. Our hope is that this campaign can provide a new life for our Husker.
If we happen to be blessed enough to acheive this financial goal, we would like to continue to pay it forward by budgeting a donation every month, indefinitely, to other campaigns in desperate need. Additionally, should our bills be less than what was estimated or our financial goal be exceeded, we would like to inform our local veterinarians of this story, and of these excess funds, so that they can be given to the next family who is in a similar situation.
If, with your help, we can get Husker the help he deserves, our family will be eternally grateful and our son can have his buddy back.
