Help us finish our new rescue shelter in Moldova

Steuerlich absetzbar
UPDATE 26TH JULY 2020

We have found a new shelter! It is in a wonderfully peaceful area, green area, no traffic, no neighbours, no farm animals, just peace and quiet. At last!  BUT the whole building needs renovating before we can move.  PLEASE may we ask you to help us to finish our shelter, so we can begin the monumental task of moving our 300+ rescued dogs, puppies, kittens and cats to their new premises.  Work at the new shelter premises has begun and this has all been made possible by kind donations we received in order to purchase building materials supplies.  A good amount of progress has been made, but we have now run out of money completely.  We desperately and urgently need to get this finished as soon as possible, so I am making this appeal to please ask for your help.  You will see from the photos below when the work was started and the progress made to date.  To finish the flooring, we need to buy gravel, reinforcement fixtures (metal posts), concrete downpour, so we can have a concrete floor which will be easy to hose down.  There are internal wall sections within the building to complete which will house a quarantine area, post operative area, cat and kitten room, and a comfortable room for the 20 old and disabled dogs.  There will be a renovated building at the side for the workers to live in.  That is the job needed internally.  Externally  we need wire mesh for aviaries construction, in addition to 371 metres of fencing to enclose the entire shelter plus gates, keeping everyone safe inside.  We will re use and re cycle as much as possible from our existing shelter, nothing will go to waste, unless it is broken or falling down!  Please help get this project finished before Winter, please.  We will post updates and more photos as work progresses, but for now, the work is on hold.  Thank you so much.

UPDATE 15TH JUNE 2020

Please could I ask you to keep sharing this fundraiser for me?  We are desperate for donations to get the shelter moving to the new premises and can only do this with your help.  Apart from the noisy construction around the shelter and the neighbour with his farm animals and slaughtering of goats in close proximity to us, where we are currently located in a deep ravine, which often floods when it rains, and turns the whole place into a muddy mess.  These photos were taken yesterday 14th June 2020.  Please help us move! Thank you.

!! UPDATE 10th June 2020 !!

WHEN we started this fundraiser a year ago, our aim was to raise enough money to purchase a plot of land to relocate our 300+ rescued dogs and 50+ cats. It was a tall order!  We had to move from where we have been for the past five years, due to a leisure complex being constructed right next to us, with lots of noisy construction work going on and lorries thundering by the dog aviaries. Our neighbour then decided to let his geese, cows, goats and pigs roam freely right in front of the dogs, plus he also slaughtered his goats not 2 metres away from the aviaries.  It turned our previously quiet and secluded shelter into a noisy environment which was upsetting for the dogs, and everyone was extremely stressed.  Now we are very happy to announce that after months and months of searching, we have been able to acquire a wonderful plot of land on which there are several unfinished buildings!  Perfect! The new place is out in the countryside, with no nearby neighbours, it is a peaceful and calm environment to move our shelter pets to.  The buildings have walls, some floors, a roof, however there is work to be done to have the place finished and ready for our animals and workers.  In addition, the most expensive outlay, will be to fence off the entire perimeter and install gates for security and safety.  From savings we managed to dig a water well 25 metres deep and to connect the electricity.  Everything has been put on hold over the last couple of months due to Covid-19, but with things slowly starting up again, we need to buy building materials to complete our task in hand, and this is where we ask for your help. Please would you support us with a donation, however small, to enable us to purchase the following materials:

 TILES, NAILS, METAL MESH WIRE

BOARDS, CHIPBOARD, PLYWOOD

COQUINA, FORTAN, BRICKS, GRAVEL, CEMENT

PAINT, BRUSHES, ROLLERS, OILCLOTH

We would like to get this work started as soon as possible, as ideally we would like to move by October/November before the Winter sets in.  Please support our work, thank you. Here are some photos of our new place!  We will update on progress and take more photos as the work progresses and then finally the finished shelter!  Thank you!

The Areal Moldavian Stray Dog Rescue Shelter began in 2014 and four years ago our shelter opened its doors in our current rented premises, to take in homeless animals. Day after day we have nurtured newborn puppies and kittens thrown out in the garbage, we have rescued and treated sick animals, we have given shelter to former abandoned home pets who are not adapted to a life on the streets. We tried to help everyone! Now we need your help. Please read the following to understand what has happened to us.

Our beautiful peaceful location nestled deep in a valley with only the noise of birds and passing goats has been ruined. Right next to our shelter not 50m in front of our gates has begun the construction of a recreation centre as the plot was recently sold off.  We had no idea of the horrors about to hit us. Such a neighbourhood is simply unacceptable either for dogs (or for the people who will soon come with their families for vacations). We can't stop the construction !!!

Since building began two weeks ago, a few cabanas and BBQ areas have been built (with more currently underway) and of the ‘visitors’ who have utilised these facilities, their behaviour has been terrible: shouting, playing loud music, drinking and setting off fireworks and even firearms. The dogs are unsettled with all this noise, scared to death when the fireworks and firearms went off and tried to break out of their aviaries and started fighting amongst themselves. Our poor workers can’t get any rest due to these visitors walking in close proximity to the aviaries setting the dogs off barking day and night. The whole situation is an absolute nightmare.  We have worked extremely hard for years to get to where we are now and we are not going to let this finish us.  We are scared and very worried. We have over 265 beautiful dogs depending on us for their lives and their safety.  We are being forced to find a new location and move, through no choice of our own.  It is going to be a huge undertaking as we will have to dismantle our entire shelter and move it and all the animals to a new place. It is of the utmost urgency  we find a plot of land and move as quickly as possible.  All we want is to be away from people, not to disturb anyone, to live in peace, and provide a safe sanctuary for our rescued animals.

Therefore, we beg of you to please help us. For five years we have helped the state, reducing the number of homeless animals on the streets of the city by providing sterilisations and a safe shelter for hundreds of dogs. All this time we have not asked for help from the state either for food for our animals or for their treatment.

We are here. We are alive, we care for more than 265 rescued dogs and cats! Our dogs do not harm anyone, they live peacefully in our shelter, where they are fed and loved. WE NEED HELP.

Thank you.
