Just weeks ago, my dear friend Sarah underwent a traumatic, life-changing surgery: the amputation of her arm. Sarah is not just recovering from this devastating loss; she’s doing it alone.

A few years ago, Sarah unexpectedly lost her lifelong love—her husband and the devoted father of her two children. She’s been raising her two beautiful kids, 11-year-old Scarlett and her younger son Hiram, who has special needs, all on her own.

Since then, she has carried the full weight of parenting, providing, and surviving- with grit, grace, and an incredible sense of humor that has kept those around her going, even when she was quietly struggling herself.

Now this recent setback has left her unable to work, and the wait for disability will take many months, if not longer. In the meantime, Sarah and her children need urgent help with basic living expenses—rent, groceries, bills, and essentials—the things we all need to simply make it through the day.

Sarah is the hardest working woman I know. She’s incredibly intelligent, endlessly resilient, and deeply devoted to her kids. Even now, she’s trying to relearn everything, but she can’t do something as simple as putting her hair in a ponytail.
