Hello! My name is Sarah and I am an Exercise Physiology student at West Virginia University. I was a member of the marching band and I always had a passion for band and biomechanics. My junior year I had the idea that I would like to study marching bands through the lens of biomechanics. It was a perfect way to blend my two passions into one project. I collected data from my peers in band to analyze the gait differences between marching band and regular walking. After I had enough data, we analyzed it and found significant results. My research mentor and I wrote an abstract and submitted it to the World Congress of Biomechanics in Vancouver, Canada. We were accepted, and now I am fundraising to fund my trip to the conference!
