<div>Hi, my name is Sara Venegas Guerrero, and I’m 18 years old.

<div>My life changed suddenly at the end of March when I was rushed to the hospital with intense abdominal pain. Doctors discovered a tumor growing on my right kidney, and within days, everything I knew was turned upside down.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At the time, I was a freshman at Michigan Technological University, just starting my journey towards my dream of becoming a mechanical engineer. When the tumor was discovered, I was immediately flown back to California to begin treatment, and on April 30, I underwent surgery to have one of my kidneys removed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Soon after, I was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. By the time we caught it, the cancer had already spread to my liver and lungs. I’ve now started treatment to fight this, and I’m doing everything I can to stay strong and hopeful.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This journey has been overwhelming physically, emotionally, and financially. My family and I are doing our best, but the high cost of last-minute emergency travel to and from Michigan, my outstanding tuition, plus long-term treatment, medications, and basic living expenses is more than we can handle on our own. Because my mother has had to take time off from work to help me with the effects of chemotherapy and radiation, we are dependent on my father's income as a construction worker.
