Help Sara Build Wells

Sara Beysolow Nyanti started the Social Movement for Change (SM4C) in Liberia to mobilize and empower young people to get involved in their communities.

Since 2015, SM4C has educated households to  fend for themselves instead of depending on foreign aid.
The vision is to motivate people to rise up and be part of the change they want to see. So far, 25 ‘’change agents’’ have been trained to spread the message to 30,000 households in Liberia’s St. Paul River District which encompasses Brewerville, Banjor, Virginia and others.   https://sm4c.co/

Through partnership agreements with communities, SM4C raises money to support projects identified by communities. In return, the communities provide labor and other in-kind donations. The lack of safe drinking water was identified as one of the major issues affecting the communities. This community level data analysis by Change Agents is confirmed by national data which shows that although 65% of Liberians have access to water through a dug well, only 1.4% have access to water through a borehole which ensures year-round availability of water.

Based on that, SM4C working in collaboration with the communities has built 1 latrine and 2 wells with hand pumps in Kamara Town along with several education, microfinance and other training activities for women such as SGBV(rape prevention), benefitting over 10 cities and townships. SM4C has also purchased a bore-hole driller that can drill down to 300 feet.

SM4C's new goal is to raise $25,000 to build latrines and hand pumps in 10 communities, each costing $5,000. This will provide clean drinking water and improve sanitation  for schools and the communities around it. Change agents will educate each community on sanitation and its relation to health, so children and families can adopt adequate behaviours to improve their health and well-being.

''If you believe in the power of educating and empowering people to be part of the change they want to see, please make a donation and share this campaign with your family and friends.'' Sara Beysolow Nyanti.
