A Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Friend, Teacher is battling breast cancer and we are asking for your help!
July of 2018, Saneta (aka Neta), accepted a new teaching position and was transitioning between old and new benefits. During this time she discovered a lump in her breast, and had to delay an initial exam until the first week of September due to the enrollment into the benefits of her new teaching job. Within just a couple of weeks Neta was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer and was left facing a future of uncertainty.
As you can imagine, this news rocked our lives. It completely turned our world upside down to hear the news that Neta had cancer. It’s a helpless feeling knowing there was nothing we could do for her. The moment Neta shared the news, we turned to God and prayed. That's what we knew we could do immediately. We embraced the fact that God had her in His grip and would see her through this ugly disease. No matter what, God was in control and is the Master Healer!
Neta, a teacher by profession, her husband Brion, a self-employed agricultural businessman, share this journey with their four children. The oldest son Tyler, is a graduate of Eaton High School and a 2018 graduate of the University Northern Colorado. He is engaged to McKenzie Del La Fuente and are to wed in November of 2019. Next, Hayden, also a graduate of Eaton High School is currently attending the University of Iowa. Toby will be graduating this May from Eaton as well. Lastly, Evie, is in 6th grade and attends Eaton Middle School. They reside east of Eaton and as you can see, they bleed RED because they are Eaton Reds through and through. With her first son's wedding quickly approaching, her second son 650 miles away at college, her third son's upcoming high school graduation in May and trying to keep up with her fiery red headed daughter, her cancer diagnosis has left the family anxious for the future.
Neta immediately began the process of receiving a port for transfusions, MRI, and CT scans in preparation for her treatment. She would undergo a total of six chemotherapy transfusions, surgery and possibly radiation. After a few months of chemotherapy treatments, Neta's oncologist scheduled her for and Echocardiogram, a test that evaluates and insures the heart is strong enough to continue chemotherapy, which needed to be completed before she could continue with her last two chemo treatments. When Neta went to the hospital to register for the test she was told she needed to pay the deductible for 2019. Obviously, this came as a surprise because she had already paid two deductibles within a short period of time. One deductible was met with her previous employer and the other with her new benefits in September, after being diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer. Now, less than four months later she was being required to come up with another deductible. Neta explained to the staff person that because of all the previous medical expenses she had incurred, she didn't have the money at the time to cover the new 2019 deductible. The employee was adamant that a portion of the fee had to be paid before the procedure could occur. Frustrated and in tears, Neta explained that if she was unable to have the Echocardiogram the clinic would need to cancel the rest of her chemo treatments. Without this Echocardiogram they would not continue the chemotherapy. The employee reluctantly continued with the preregistration process. Neta shared her experience with us and we were troubled, but we then realized the time had come to do something to help her financially. So here we are!
Neta has completed six treatments of chemotherapy over the duration of four months. Post treatment labs and tests have been positive (good news). Most recently, Neta underwent a double mastectomy and is now recovering. Tests conducted from biopsy samples from the surgery have produced positive news as well. What happens next? A second round of chemotherapy treatments will be administered every three weeks until next fall, radiation treatments will start immediately and more prayers. With the amazing medical treatments, everyone's prayers and God's healing power the future is bright!
