After traveling around Bali, we visited the island of Gili Trawangan in Lombok, where we met our new friend, Sandy. He’s a local from the main island of Lombok and works at La Cala, one of the best restaurants in Gili T. However, even working at one of the top restaurants, his daily wage is only £4.56!(100K in IDR).

Sandy is always smiling, but as we got to know him better, we discovered just how brave he really is. At 25 years old, he recently lost his father and is now the sole provider for his family. On top of that, he’s working to rebuild their home, which was destroyed in the 2018 earthquake.

For the past three years, Sandy has been sleeping outside on a chair from the restaurant and surviving on just one meal a day.

We’ve created this page to help Sandy rebuild his home and hopefully give him a safe place to sleep each night. Any support would mean the world to him—and to us.
