Help Sandra Realize Her Dream

Hello, my name is Sandra Soca Lozano. I live in a Caribbean country famous for its cigars, rum, and old cars. I work as a Psychology professor at the University there. I have a dream to further my education and obtain a PhD in Psychology. My desire is to help children and teenagers with cancer and other chronic diseases. I hope to support them as they transition between school, community, and the healthcare facility where they receive diagnosis and treatment.

Despite the fact there is a PhD program for Psychology in my country, I want to challenge my education by graduating from a program with international validation and accreditation from the American Psychological Association. I believe my involvement in such a program will help me become a top academic. I have applied to several programs in the USA, and after much anticipation, I’ve been accepted with a full scholarship to the PhD Psychology program at the University of South Florida!

Unfortunately the US embassy is closed in my country, and therefore I will need to travel to another country to apply for my US student visa. Travel visas are difficult to obtain in my country, but I currently have an active travel visa for Canada. I am planning to travel to Vancouver to apply for my visa at the US Consulate’s office there.

I am asking for financial assistance in covering these travel costs. Although I am a professor, my country’s government does not pay its employees a lot of money. A trip to Canada for me is almost equal to one year’s salary! Any financial help, even if it’s just a few dollars, would be greatly appreciated and help me realize my dream of one day becoming Dr. Sandra Lozano, PhD.
