Help Sandra with a New Mode of Transportation!

What do you do when your mind and your spirit soar, but, your body, the vehicle that carries out your dreams, ceases to function? This is the position that Sandra, who has been living with ALS for eight miraculous years, has found herself. An artist all her life, now confined to her bed, Sandra is totally dependent on people to keep her alive through breathing and feeding machines. She is able to communicate by texting through retinal recognition of letters - an amazing invention!

Now, in addition to the need of transportation for medical visits, Sandra has the dream of being able to travel with her three daughters, to family and friends throughout the country.  She still has so much living to do!

Sandra has spent her artistic life improving the lives of others, worldwide, having traveled to Rwanda to work with women, lectured at the Mayo Clinic and University of Florida numerous times, overreaching the limitations of ALS.

Now, it is in our power to help improve her life by getting her out of her rickety, unreliable van into one that is comfortable and will ensure her reaching her destination, whether it be one mile or one thousand miles.

Let's reward ourselves and this brilliant, deserving woman by giving this dream legs.

Please...if we all chip in a little, it will amount to so much...

Sandra’s friends and family have been supportive of her in so many ways, but her needs continue to grow as her condition progresses. Please read on to see how you have helped and to learn more about Sandra’s current condition.

Your donations have helped Sandra pay for her ever increasing needs, such as additional home care, medical equipment, and importantly, to maintain a decent quality of life.

Sandra has dedicated her life to helping others. From Apalachicola to Rwanda, she has traveled extensively, designing a children’s playground, community gardens, and public health murals, touching the lives of people around the world. Before her illness, she worked at UF Health Shands Arts in Medicine Program in Gainesville, facilitating art projects with patients throughout the hospital. She has educated people about living with ALS through talks with medical students and others in the health professions.

These activities exemplify who Sandra is as a person. She has been an inspiration to others who face significant challenges in their lives.

You can view her current artwork and videos of her in action on her Facebook page: Footwork by Sandra Murphy-Pak-evolving as an artist with ALS.
