Hi, my name is Deanne. On Saturday 8th February my 19 yo son Sam’s ute was stolen from the University of Canberra.
Whilst he was very lucky police found his ute dumped not far away today; everything he owned was taken from inside the vehicle.
Sam has only recently moved to the ACT to start a new apprenticeship as a Greenskeeper and all his work boots and new work clothes were in there.
Sam is a very keen (& talented) lawn bowler. His grandfather’s bowls were stolen (& other irreplaceable items of his great grandfather’s in the same bowls bag), along with a new to him, 2nd hand set of bowls only delivered in the post last week, he never even had the opportunity to have a roll of them!. A second battery in his ute lock box, along with tools, camping gear (roof top tent annexe), clothes and other personal items were taken. Whilst his old ute does have insurance, it’s an old farm ute with not much value; the cost of making a claim is not justifiable.
He also now has the additional cost of having to replace all the locks on the vehicle. It is unlikely the items will be returned.
I was hoping we could help raise some funds for Sam to buy new work gear, some new tools, new clothes, hats and maybe even a set of bowls to get him back on track again. He can’t afford to replace these items himself.
Those who know Sam, know just how much he loves his lawn bowls and his new job!! He is an honest & down to earth young person, who is finding this a bit tough. Anything you could donate would be appreciated! Thank you for your kindness.
