Help Sam Recover from Tragedy

My friend Sam is a wonderful and inspiring human being. Sam is studying to become an herbal healer, so they can help heal people in our communities who are working for social justice. (You can check out their website here .) Sam cares so much about the people in their life, and has devoted their life to helping them heal. They constantly amaze and inspire me with how hard they work towards positive change in the world.
Several weeks ago, Sam witnessed a brutal murder: Dusty — Sam's friend, and their roommate's partner — was stabbed to death in Sam's home. Sam tried to apply first aid to Dusty, and tried to revive him after he stopped breathing. Dusty died in the arms of Sam and their roommate. Ever the healer, Sam used ritual to help their grief-stricken roommate mourn and process the loss of her partner.
Probably the most incomprehensible part is that this is the second time in a year that there has been a murder in Sam's home — this comes after another person was murdered, in January, in another house they lived in.
Sam is deeply wounded and incredibly traumatized right now. On top of all this, they are facing down homelessness: they couldn't stay in their house after the murder, but they are struggling to find affordable housing in the Bay Area. Many of Sam's closest friends have been trying our hardest to support Sam through this incredibly difficult time — but we need your help.
We're trying to raise money to give Sam the space to rest, grieve, and heal from this severe trauma.
We're trying to raise enough money to pay for rent, living expenses, and therapeutic care for Sam for at least two months — enough time to give them space to start healing. We're trying to raise $6,000; if we can raise more, that would give Sam more time. We wish that we lived in a society that took care of people who needed time to heal from severe trauma — but we don't. Their family doesn't have resources to support them — we're all they have.
