<div>You might have seen the news stories about a devastating hit-and-run crash in Brampton that involved a stolen pickup truck and left several people — including two kids — with life-altering injuries. Among those people are my cousin Samantha Ritchie and her two beautiful kids, who are 8 and 12, and they need help.

<div>Sam and her kids were on their way home from a dog training class and sitting at a red light when the stolen pickup hit them at high speed Thursday evening, and the driver fled on foot.

<div>All three are in hospital with extensive injuries, and 8-year-old Nixon remains in a medically induced coma. They have all undergone surgeries, and there are likely more to come. Tragically their beloved rescue dog Finnegan did not survive the crash.

<div>Sam is one of the kindest, most giving people — a single mom and special education teacher who is constantly giving back to her community, and lives for her kids.
