<div>In 2017, S.A.L.T. Rescue was founded by a small group of dedicated volunteers with a simple mission: to help animals who have nowhere else to turn.
</div>

<div>Since then, S.A.L.T. has become an important part of the animal-rescue community. Working with dedicated foster families, volunteers and veterinary professionals, S.A.L.T. has helped thousands of animals find safety, medical care, foster placement and loving permanent homes.
</div>

</div>
<div>Over the past three years alone, as the need for animal rescue grew dramatically following the COVID-19 pandemic, S.A.L.T. estimates that it has helped more than 2,000 cats and approximately 20 dogs.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But the need has continued to grow.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Families have faced increasing economic pressures, resulting in more animals becoming homeless while, at the same time, fewer families have been in a position unable to adopt. Like many rescues, S.A.L.T. found itself facing an unprecedented number of animals needing help.

</div>
<div>And S.A.L.T. continued to say yes.
</div>

<div>How We Got Here
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On April 30, 2026, Animal Welfare Services personnel attended the shelter and raised concerns regarding the capacity and conditions of some of the animals at the facility.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>S.A.L.T. has cooperated in good faith with requests for information and documentation and has worked with Animal Welfare Services regarding the animals in its care. As this situation progressed, 66 cats were removed from S.A.L.T.'s care, 19 have since been euthanized without our consent or the option of getting a second opinion.

<div>For our volunteers and foster families who had cared for these animals, this was heartbreaking and deeply difficult to accept.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>S.A.L.T. cannot change what has already happened. What we can do is continue fighting for the animals who remain in our care and ensure that they receive the food, shelter, veterinary care and love they desperately need.
</div>

<div>Now S.A.L.T. Is Facing a $198,165 Crisis
</div>

</div>
<div>On August 10, 2026, S.A.L.T. received a Statement of Account totaling $198,165.28.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The statement identifies:

</div>
<div>• $72,524.78 in boarding costs
</div>
<div>• $125,640.50 in veterinary costs
</div>
<div>• Total: $198,165.28
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>S.A.L.T. disputes significant portions of the amount claimed and is taking steps to challenge those costs through the appropriate process.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But while that process unfolds, there is an immediate concern: S.A.L.T. must continue caring and maintaining the costs for additional expensive vet care for the animals who remain under its care.
</div>

</div>
<div>This is where we need our community.
</div>

<div>We Need Your Help S.A.L.T. is a volunteer-driven rescue. We do not have hundreds of thousands of dollars sitting in reserve to absorb a financial crisis of this magnitude. Our animals still need:

<div>Medication
</div>
<div>Foster homes
</div>
<div>Emergency medical treatment

<div>Love and care while they wait for their forever homes

<div>If S.A.L.T. cannot overcome this financial crisis, its ability to continue providing that care is at risk.

<div>We have helped medically challenged animals who needed someone willing to take a chance on them.
