Saigon City has been a family-owned Vietnamese restaurant in Old Saybrook, CT, since 1996. Vu and Bernadette, along with their two sons Erik and Max, have poured their hearts into building a welcoming place where friends and families gather to enjoy delicious Vietnamese cuisine. Their journey began when Vu and Bernadette escaped Vietnam and came to the United States in 1980, determined to build a new life and share their love of food with their new community. Over the years, Saigon City has become a cherished part of Old Saybrook, serving both local residents and visitors, and creating lasting relationships along the way.

 Recently, an accidental kitchen fire forced Saigon City to close its doors for an unknown period. This unexpected event has been incredibly stressful for Vu, Bernadette, Erik, and Max, as they now face the challenge of rebuilding and recovering from the damage. The disruption has been even more difficult because the family also lives in the building, making this not just a business setback, but a personal one as well. While they are committed to reopening and serving the community again, the road ahead is uncertain and filled with obstacles.

 During this difficult time, the loss of regular income has made it hard for the family to keep up with bills and living expenses. The funds raised through this campaign will help Vu, Bernadette, Erik, and Max get by while they work to restore Saigon City and their home. The family is deeply grateful for the decades of support, the thousands of great friends and family they have made along the way, and the many memories they have shared.
