Meet Sadie, our beautiful 4-year-old Goldador. Sadie is 55 days pregnant with her second litter of puppies. In the early hours of Monday, December 2, Sadie was brutally attacked in her own yard by our neighbor’s two male dogs. She fought so hard that the exhaustion coupled with the shock of being attacked caused her to begin seizing. She has been hospitalized ever since. When I got her to the vet, she had a temp of 105.5, her glucose level was only 30, and she was continually seizing. She is improving slowly but is going to require medical attention at least until she delivers her pups. She is on Midazolam and Keppra for her seizures. We are not sure at this time if she is going to need long-term seizure management.
When I found her after school Monday, she was convulsing, covered in mud, and had scratches and abrasions all over her body. My name is Logan. I am a senior at Russellville High School. Sadie is my dog. I work part-time at a local restaurant but make minimal money. My mom works long hours at her job. She is a single mom who has raised 3 kids on her own. She makes sure we have everything we need but doesn’t need the added financial burden of Sadie’s vet bills right here at Christmas.
I know times are tough right now all around. But if you could please spare a few dollars to help me save my Sadie, I would be forever grateful.
Here’s a little story of how Sadie came into my life:
When I was about 2 years old, we adopted a black Goldador from our local shelter. We named him Max. He was solid black, with a tiny tuft of white hair on his chest. He was my best friend growing up. He lived until I was 14. When he died, I was absolutely devastated. Shortly after, we began searching for another black Goldador. We couldn’t find one.
A few weeks later, I went outside and found two tiny puppies under my grandfather’s truck. Someone had dumped them. Unfortunately, one of the pups died a few hours later. They were both suffering from starvation. When I picked the other puppy up, I noticed a tiny tuft of white hair on her chest…in the exact same spot as Max. I knew then that God meant for me to raise this dog. I named her Sadie. I know without a doubt that God sent Sadie to me to ease the pain of losing Max.
Also, whether you donate to her care or not, please join me in praying for my sweet Sadie.
