Hello! My name is Sadia Tarin and I have been selected to represent New York in the Princess America Nationals pageant to be held in Orlando, Florida on July 8th-10th! I am currently attending Baruch College which is one of the leading Business Schools in NYC, located right on the heart of Wall Street. I am pursuing midwifery as my career to fulfill my passion of helping pregnant women and babies.
My dream is to become Miss Universe and I would love your support on this journey. In order to get to Miss Universe, I must compete and win the state competition Miss New York, nationals competition Miss USA, and then go on to represent the United States at the Miss Universe competition. The journey requires a lot of perseverance through the test of time.
My first pageant ever was the Miss New York USA competition in 2023. The event changed my life. I was a girl who attended college and worked gig jobs, but didn’t strive for excellence. At the pageant, I was mesmerized by my sister competitors. These were women who were excelling at their studies, working jobs that highly impacted society, dedicated themselves towards fitness and very hardworking women. After the pageant, I looked in the mirror and asked myself, was I going down the right route in life? The inspiration transformed me. I dedicated myself to my fitness and nutrition, investing in my health and achieved a 55 pound weight loss. I strived to achieve academically and received A’s in my classes. I passionately taught children as a private tutor in both my own tutoring business and private tutoring centers. I am now a fundraising advocate for displaced refugees as I complete my studies.
My pageant coach taught me; the queen is not a supermodel, she is a role model for young girls. Pageantry is known for the glamour and beauty, however the reigning queen is the face of an organization that partners with charities. I have been inspired and motivated by pageantry to engage in volunteer work and community service.
The pageant Queen is a compassionate woman who inspires others and speaks with power to motivate little girls. Since competing at Miss New York USA 2023, I have worked hard to become the role model I needed when I was a little girl. I grew up in a conservative family with parents who were born and raised in the village of Bangladesh. I want to inspire other South Asian and Muslim women that there is nothing abnormal in being traditionally feminine, and that nobody has the right to stop them from wearing makeup, embracing glamour, and wanting to be seen and heard. I have been inspired through pageantry to wear what I want, speak how I want, and live how I want by having confidence in myself.
People celebrate the glitter and glamour when they look at pageantry, but very little know about the sacrifices and hard work we put in to show up. Pagaent girls do not get paid to be on stage, we put a lot of discipline and diligence into our preparations. Many pageant competitors reach out to businesses to secure sponsorship. Others work overtime or get an extra job in hopes of earning extra funds to finance the pageant. We make sacrifices to invest in our dreams and ourselves. There are a lot of expenses associated with competing for a pageant. Contestants spend thousands in registration & sponsorship fees, travel and transportation, wardrobe, pageant coaching, fitness coaching and numerous other expenses.
I ask for your support in helping me to compete at the Princess America pageant in Orlando, Florida. Below is a detailed breakdown of expenses that must be covered in order to successfully compete at the pageant. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated, no contribution is too big or small. If you feel any specific expense resonates to you, such the plane ticket or pageant coaching, feel free to cover that single expense. Due to your contributions, I would be able to fulfill my dreams and witness them come to fruition.
