I hate doing this. I hate asking for help. We have tried to get grants and funding to help but we keep getting denied. I am desperate. I am pleading. Rylee is 5 years old and has autism. She is nonverbal and severely delayed. Recently when in our yard and standing by our older daughter, Rylee took off running full speed towards the road. We live on a very busy road. One that semi trucks, trucks pulling campers and trailers, and RVs drive down. We all instantly started screaming for her to stop. We were chasing her full speed but her dad and I were too far and never going to catch her. She wasn't stopping. A truck pulling a side by side was coming down the road. If we couldn't stop Rylee she was going to run right in front of this truck. Thank God our teenage son was closer and able to catch her. We never took our eyes off her. She was right there with us...but in the blink of an eye she took off and we could have lost her. We have already lost one child to a heart defect. I cannot lose another. I will not survive. We desperately want funds for a fence. A fence just along the road and a gate for the driveway. We can build it ourselves we just need help getting the materials. Rylee loves being outside and we want to keep her safe. She doesn't understand the dangers. She thinks the road is where the bus is. She doesn't understand safety. I am still so traumatized by it all. Seeing her running towards a truck coming down the road and not being able to stop her. I really thought we were going to lose her.
