Yesterday was an ordinary day — until it wasn’t. Our brave little dachshund Rudy, just six years old, was suddenly diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), a painful and debilitating condition that commonly affects his breed. The news hit us like a freight train.
Rudy isn’t just our pet — he’s family. He’s a rescue who’s already lived through things no animal ever should, but he never let his past define him. Against all odds, he made it to us. He’s been our light, our laughter, and our little warrior with a heart full of love.
Now, he needs us — and we need you.
IVDD often requires extensive back surgery to relieve the pain and give him a real chance at walking and living normally again. The cost is overwhelming, and like many, we don’t have thousands of dollars readily available. But giving up on Rudy is not an option.
If you’ve ever known the unconditional love of a dog, you know how deep this kind of bond goes. Rudy’s not just fighting IVDD — he’s fighting for the life he’s finally been able to live. And we’re going to fight right alongside him.
Any amount, no matter how small, helps us take a step closer to giving Rudy the care he needs. If you can’t donate, please share this with others who might be able to help.
From the bottom of our hearts — and Rudy’s — thank you.
UPDATE: 5/20
Rudy has made incredible progress overnight!
With the help of his doctor, he was able to stand on his hind legs and even take a few steps—a major milestone in his recovery. Based on this improvement, the veterinary team has recommended continuing with crate rest and pain management for now, holding off on surgery to see how well he can heal on his own.We are deeply grateful for the generosity and support we've received. Your donations are helping cover the costs of Rudy’s three-night hospital stay, medications, diagnostic testing, and his upcoming follow-up visits. Thank you for being part of his healing journey.
UPDATE: 5/22
Our beloved Rudy is finally home.
He is now on strict crate rest and receiving several necessary (and costly) medications—but every bit is worth it for our sweet boy. We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers you've shown during this time. Rudy is so happy to be back with his family, resting and healing.
