Everyone knows Roxy as the most cuddly, lovin, girl around!
I got Roxy in 2017 and she was afraid of life and didn’t know what to do. Now 8years later she is a totally different girl, who loves booty scratches, a good sun bathe, and the biggest stick you got. Until a few months ago.
Friends and I noticed that some days Roxy wasn’t her stick lovin self outside but didn’t think anything of it other than feeding off of my stress from life. Just to be safe I did blood work to rule anything out. The beginning of July she and her brothers went into the vet for a routine blood work and for Roxy an anal gland expression. It was taking longer than expected but didn’t think twice. Until a tech came out saying “we found a mass”.
The mass was about the size of a blueberry but still causing some discomfort. Right away we got a biopsy and sent it off to see what it was. Well it was cancer.
What they found was AGASACA (Apocrine Gland Anal Sac Adenocarcinoma) as well as being told that it is the type that can spread and spread fast. Wasn’t the news I wanted but knew I had to take action. The second we found out what it was we got her in for surgery to remove it at Brighton-Eggert Animal Hospital as well as get X-rays to make sure it hasn’t spread.
Fast forward to surgery day, and my worst fear was said on the phone - “we couldn’t do surgery” “it grew from a blueberry to a peach pit” - as well as finding spots on lungs her X-rays and enlarged lymph nodes.
Now what… Orchard Park Speciality Vet. Our next steps are trying to get her into OP to get a consult, surgery, and whatever is needed in between. However it’s expensive…
Roxy is the bestest girly in the world and this was something I was never expecting to happen to such a beautiful soul. I’m here asking for whatever you can give that will go towards all Roxy bills; consults, surgery, meds, etc.
Roxy has helped me with SO many client dogs, helped me when I was at my lowest, and has brought a smile to my face every morning (even if burps in my face). Everyone who has met Roxy always falls in love the second they see her.
F*ck Cancer!

UPDATE AS OF 8/15: We saw the oncologist and talked about medical treatment and all the different options. After the appointment I decided to look at all my options before any decision. The main key point was that really before anything a CT scan is needed because yes we know she has this aggressive cancer mass, but how aggressive. As I was checking out I asked if there was any available spots earlier than November for the pre-op for surgery. BY THE GRACE OF SOMETHING we were able to get the appointment to this Monday (8/19) which is HUGE! So we go in Monday and hopefully we will have more info then!
