Rosie needs help!! After being first abandoned and then rescued from the streets of Kosovo, this sweet girl travelled all the way to Reno, only to test positive for heartworm disease. We are hopeful that it was caught early, and are embarking on an intensive treatment journey that will last for many months. During this time, her activity has to be severely restricted to prevent a pulmonary embolism and she will have to take all kinds of medications, some of which are painful. But she is such a sport. We are hopeful that someday she will get to be a normal, happy, energetic, young dog again. In the meantime, she is building a community of loving supporters. My mom, Mallery, has been hosting Rosie so that she can have a calm and gradual adjustment to her new life. And a new friend, Mary Beth, has become a very involved fairy godmother, helping tirelessly with vet appointments and also respite care. But this treatment is so expensive, and I don’t think we can do it without your support. The diagnostic phase has already topped $1400. Her echocardiogram will be another $1000. And the drug treatments themselves will likely be over $1500. We are putting every penny we had leftover from Rosie’s travel fundraiser toward this, but it’s nowhere near enough to cover these unexpected costs. Even if you just have a few dollars to spare, please consider helping Rosie get better. It will all add up. And also, if you have dogs or cats, please make sure you get them tested and started on heartworm prevention, no matter where you live.
