Meet Bob- My dad Bob is an amazing father and grandfather who will always do anything for anyone and help others. Bob was a hard-working welder for 40 years before retiring from his career. However, unlike other newly retired people ready to enjoy the retired life, Bob has faced extreme medical issues.
About 7 years ago, he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a life altering obstructive lung disease causing long term breathing problems and poor airflow. He has been breathing with an oxygen tank for the past 3 years and is unable to function without it.
On Friday, August 7th, 2020 we received the best call we could ever ask for! Bob has just been accepted as a lung transplant recipient from the Toronto General Hospital! He has been given a second chance at life and we cannot thank the lung transplant team in NS and TO enough for this opportunity.
The next step is for my dad and I to relocate to Toronto ASAP so the lung transplant team can begin to search for lungs and find a match. We plan on driving from Halifax NS and arriving by August 21, 2020.
Our family is fundraising to help with the extra costs associated with his surgery and recovery including: cost of relocating to Toronto, parking, gas, food, accommodations, medical prescriptions and equipment pre and post surgery. If you can help us reach our goal in any way, it would mean so much to Bob and our family. All he wants is a second chance to once again enjoy the little things in life and to spend more time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
