Happy Summer everyone!
Our names are Robert and Jenny Jordan, some of you may know us and some of you may not. Robert and I are about to embark on a very exciting (and slightly overwhelming) journey! We are looking for help and support and would love to share this adventure with you.
A bit of a background, Robert and I both, at a young age before we knew each other, took a wrong path; we became addicted to drugs and alienated from our families. Both of us ended up in jail which turned out to be the miracle that turned our lives around; a real wake up call.
We ended up in the same town at the same time at the same recovery meetings and we have been sober ever since- Robert for six years and me for 7. We recognized the drive and determination in each other to stay clean. We fell in love and got married surrounded by family and friends on August 18th 2024.
We are geeks for recovery now one would say; very grateful to be lucky enough to get and stay clean. We are both very involved in the program; we both attend both NA and AA meetings regularly, both of us sponsor others in their recovery, I volunteer in the local jail to encourage addicts to go into drug rehab programs and to attend meetings when they are released, Robert is the treasurer for our local NA, and we both joyfully celebrate "sober birthdays" as our friends add years to their sobriety.
Since getting clean, I have started a cleaning business, an LLC which besides cleaning houses, has included cleaning at a mission which helps people move of the streets and towards recovery.
Robert has worked at A Plus Equipment Rentals which he loves. As he caught on to the business very quickly, his boss began to mentor him and a beautiful friendship began between the two. A friendship then developed between his wife and me and the four of us have done many things together.
Recently, the owners, Kevin and Geri, decided to retire and sell the business. They offered us an opportunity to buy at a reduced price. Needless to say, this is an opportunity we never imagined- even in our wildest dreams!
We have sought advice from experts in both business and finance and received assurances that everything is solid and there shouldn’t be any "surprises"; we applied for an SBA loan and got it! We have been able to come up with the down payment. Kevin and Geri have agreed to mentor us through any questions we may have as we build up experience. Geri has begun to mentor me in what she does, which includes billing and payroll.
One important thing we lack is start-up costs, reserves for payroll and unforeseen contingencies to cover the first few months. We will eventually have that ourselves but do not have it going in. This is where we need your help.
Robert and I are still pinching ourselves over this incredible opportunity. We hope you will join us in making it all happen. We welcome and are grateful for any help with start-up costs.
