Please Help My Husband Robert Conquer Dental Pain
My husband, Robert Spivey, had a large amount of sub-par restorative dental work done shortly after he left the Navy in 1996 that has resulted in major infections. The first one resulted in 16 root canals and a large bone graft around his sinus cavity. Since that time, he has had a horrible amount of infections that led to extracting the tooth almost every time. The infection has also spread into his sinus cavity and is causing problems. In the last two months, the pace has picked up. He has had three more infections and has lost two more of his upper teeth.
He currently has only12 teeth left and 3 that are getting ready to go. Every time I see his face swell up due to an abscessed tooth, it frightens me, and I worry about him. I have seen Robert literally give the coat off his back and go out of his way to help people. As long as I have known him, he has cared for everyone around him. He is both too prideful and too humble to ask for help, so I am doing it for him.
We have researched possible plans and met with surgeons about the needed surgery. Everyone agrees the remaining teeth need to be removed, and there are a few options available:
a. Permanent implants costing $54,000 including major bone graphs
b. *(Our Goal) Implant eight smaller posts and have snap-in dentures for $18,000
c. Regular dentures were our first thought, but he has had too much bone loss for this to work properly
Our goal is the second option. Insurance will only cover $1,000, and we fit into the category of making too much for charity assistance but not enough to finance the work, so we are asking for help.
If we can’t raise the full amount, we can attempt to finance some of it. However, all the places have very high interest, and we are already taxing our credit cards to keep up with current dental fees. Robert is a very conscientious and hard-working person, but he has not been able to work for the past two months because of the infections, so it has been hard to keep up.
It has not been easy to come to this decision to ask for help. More than anything else, we need your prayers. If God leads you to help us, we will be very humbly grateful. This is not some, “Please help my husband pay for his teeth and give him a pretty smile.” He is in pain, and his health is being affected. May God bless you as you consider this request.
