Help Robbie Milam Fund Medical Bills

Donation protected
Hi Panther family, I am Holli Hudgins Lange (Class of 1986) and I am asking the Panther family to join me in supporting our fellow Panther, Robbie Milam by helping his family pay his exhorbitent medical bills. He has been fighting cancer since 2019. According to Robbie, his medical bills are depleting savings and retirement. He is concerned about providing for his family. Working has become very difficult with his declining physical health. Please come alongside our fellow Panther as you feel led. You can find Robbie on facebook and review his posts to learn more about his family and his journey with cancer.

Here is his story:

Robbie graduated in 1986 from Campbell. He grew up in Smyrna on Memory Lane. He played french horn in orchestra and marching band all four years. He played piano at Smyrna Presbyterian Church from age 12 until age 20.

He currently resides in Lady Lake, Fl with his wife Paula, married 24 years. Two children: Sims, 20 Elizabeth, 17. Sims is taking classes at locHis career consists of serving on staff with several churches as Minister of Music, organist and older adult coordinator.

He was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer on Dec 19, 2019. He underwent a double mastectomy, 32 lymph nodes removed, twenty-two were positive. He started chemo January 5, 2020. Emergency surgery for perforation of bowel due to chemo in Jan 31, 2020. Chemo effective in softening the mass that was the size of half of a baseball. Went into cardiac shock March 2020. Finished chemo in June 2020. First mastectomy in July 2020 and lymph node removals. August – September 2020 – 5 times in hospital with infections. Radiation treatments from September – Nov. 2020.

Robbie rang 1st radiation bell Nov 10, 2020. Second mastectomy Dec 2020. On maintenance – seeing doctor weekly – keep infection and cancer at bay. May 2021 – excruciating pain in back, spine, - pet scan lit up showing cancer had metastasized to his bones. Double Radiation treatments everyday for 5 weeks. began July 2021. 30 rounds for both places – 60 rounds total. 3rd pet scan – another 5 weeks – 25 rounds of radiation. Rang 2nd bell in October 1 2021. Rang 3rd bell November 2021. Metastasized to brain – 16 lesions on skull. Excruciating headaches. As of this month, scans show the cancer is spreading rapidly throughout his body and in the bones.

How has all of this treatment affected his quality of life: difficulties riding in a car, bending down are impossible for him. He says it's easier to say what he can do: watch tv, read, play piano. Can’t travel, missing Elizabeth’s volleyball and Sim’s basketball games. Loves yard work and cannot take care of his yard. Has to isolate. Life – doctors – publix- home. Hips hurt all the time. Neuropathy in legs, feet, hands. Can’t feel piano keys with left hand – his passion. The medical bills have drained the family’s savings and retirement. He was in between jobs when this happened. He's working parttime for the church. playing piano when he physically can to support his family.
