<div>Rob stond altijd midden in het leven. Als wereldreiziger voor zijn werk heeft hij veel gezien en meegemaakt, maar op 31 mei 2024 veranderde alles. Tijdens een werkreis in Japan viel hij van de trap en liep hij een hoge dwarsleasie op zijn nek (C3). Deze tragische val leidde tot ernstige hersenschade en blindheid aan zijn rechterkant, waardoor Rob niet meer kan lezen.

<div>Na een maand vechten voor zijn leven in een Japans ziekenhuis, werd Rob gerepatrieerd naar het Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis in Den Bosch. Na twee weken op de intensive care is hij van de beademing afgekomen en eind juli overgeplaatst naar de Sint Maartenskliniek in Nijmegen. Hij verblijft daar nog steeds, waar hij alles doet voor zoveel mogelijk herstel. Het is echter duidelijk dat lopen en zelfstandig eten en drinken nooit meer hetzelfde zullen zijn. Rob zal de rest van zijn leven 24/7 hulp nodig hebben bij zijn motoriek en verzorging.

<div>Helaas werken verschillende instanties vertragend. Dit maakt het extra moeilijk voor hem en zijn gezin om de noodzakelijke aanpassingen in en rond hun huis te realiseren.

<div>**Help Rob rebuild his life**

<div>Rob has always been in the middle of life. As a world traveler for his work, he has seen and experienced a lot, but on May 31, 2024, everything changed. During a work trip to Japan, he fell down the stairs and suffered a high spinal cord injury on his neck (C3). This tragic fall led to serious brain damage and blindness on his right side, which means Rob can no longer read.

<div>After a month of fighting for his life in a Japanese hospital, Rob was repatriated to the Jeroen Bosch Hospital in Den Bosch. After two weeks in intensive care, he was taken off the ventilator and transferred to the Sint Maartenskliniek in Nijmegen at the end of July. He is still there, where he is doing everything he can to recover as much as possible. However, it is clear that walking and eating and drinking independently will never be the same again. Rob will need 24/7 help with his motor skills and care for the rest of his life.

<div>Unfortunately, the government is slowing down and both the municipality and healthcare institutions are only willing to help Rob to a limited extent. This makes it extra difficult for him and his family to realize the necessary adjustments in and around their home.

<div>That is why we are asking for your help. We have set up a crowdfunding campaign to finance the following essential adjustments and aids for Rob:
