Help an eco-friendly project in Sumatra

My dear friend Risky has an eco village called Sumatra Vibes on the edge of the Gunung Leuser National Park on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. He provides accommodation and guided tours/treks into the jungle. He has very strict rules regarding interactions with this fragile ecosystem, such as, limitations of 3 visitors at a time, no feeding or touching of wildlife is allowed. I was fortunate enough to experience this adventure in February 2020. It forever changed my life, and it changed my perception of how sustainable tourism can be achieved.
Due to COVID, tourism has slowed to the point where Risky can no longer survive financially. His conservation efforts to preserve and protect Orangutans are at stake. Normally, paid tourism allows Risky to employ fellow villagers and covers the bills (electricity, water, hut maintenance, etc.) every season. Without the influx of tourism and income Risky has no other alternatives except to ask for help in this difficult time, both in Indonesia and around the world. Besides the financial strain, the threat to the Orangutans is ever present. Each year, the palm oil industry land grabs closer and closer to protected sanctuaries that shelter endangered species. Risky´s beliefs about education and protection of his islands beauty and conservation is vital to maintaining this delicate balance for humans and the jungle to coexist.
100 percent of these proceeds will go directly to Risky's conservation efforts and will allow the Eco village to remain open until tourism returns. It is especially urgent now to fundraise as tourism is not expected to return anytime soon. Even the smallest amount goes a long way in supporting those in time of need.
