Help Disabled Adopted Riley

Riley is our 6 year old black lab. He was hit by a car when he was 1 and suffered severe nerve damage.  He is unable to walk using his hind legs. His owner at the time was unable to care for him and surrendered him to the Southern California Labrador Retriever Rescue. Over the next two years he spent time with two loving foster families.  That is where we found this sweet boy. He was 3 years old when we adopted him. My husband and I were the only applicants to apply to adopt Riley.  Although disabled, Riley still lives a fulfilled life. He loves to swim, play with toys, run around (with the help of his cart), bark, and most of all hang out with his friends and family. When we adopted Riley we knew that our lives would change.  Not only because of his enormous heart and spirit.  But, also because caring for a disabled dog requires extra care and attention. Which we gladly do and would not trade for anything.  We are asking for your help because unfortunately we have been blindsided by two major surgeries over the course of the last 2 weeks. Last week, unable to urinate, Riley was diagnosed with bladder stones. During the surgery they made the discovery one of the stones had damaged his urethra.  Post surgery he spent several days in the hospital and was sent home.  After a few days of being home we noticed he was having trouble again.  Another MRI revealed that although healing his urethra was damaged beyond repair or future use.  Because of his mobility issues our options are limited. Riley is currently undergoing another major surgery which will leave him with a permanent catheter that will bypass his urethra all together. Although we are not looking for complete coverage of his medical bills, your donation would help reduce the financial burden that all of the nights in the hospital and surgeries have placed upon us.
