Rick has been cancer free for 7 years working to stay in remission. Shortly before Christmas of 2021 he began to notice sores that would not heal. After testing Dad/Rick was diagnosed on February 20, 2022 with Squeamish cell carcinoma in his mouth. This began his fourth fight against cancer. On Monday March 14 Dad will undergo a 10 hour surgery in order to remove the cancerous tumor and graft a bone from his fibula to replace a part of his jaw bone that has been effected. As he has Undergone chemo and radiation before these are not an option, but Dads doctors believe this is the best choice for treatment. He will be in the hospital for a minimum of 2 weeks as he recovers from the surgery and works to regain his strength so that the feeding tube and trac we will no longer be necessary. From here Dads goal is to return to work in 6-8 weeks post surgery. Dad is a fighter and looking ahead towards his recovery.
