Help Rick Heal From His Accident

Rick is both our mom's partner and a vital part of Chocolate Flower Farm. He is a jack-of-all-trades and spends his days employing his many skills around the farm doing tractor work, plumbing, wiring and carpentry. He had a terrible accident on November 11th when he fell from a ladder while working to repair their roof, landing headfirst on concrete. He was airlifted to Providence in Everett, where he was intubated and admitted to the ICU. He sustained a neck fracture, spinal fractures, broken ribs and suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI). After four days in the ICU and just over a week between a step-down unit and a physical therapy center, Rick is now home. He has a long road ahead of him, particularly regarding all of the unknowns of recovery from a TBI. Mom is now his round-the-clock caregiver in addition to keeping up with the demands of running a small business. She is also managing the household repairs and maintenance projects normally in Rick’s wheelhouse. (They live in an old farmhouse, so this is no small task.)

We are unsure what Rick’s medical bills will look like but are bracing for their arrival. We humbly ask for donations to help defray the cost of his looming medical bills and to offset the shift from running a small business to caregiving.
