with a spinal cord injury which left him paralyzed from the neck down. Over the next 5 months, Broward General Hospital would become his new home. Being bed bound for such a lengthy time, he developed bed sores and blood clots preventing him from starting his much needed physical therapy. As time went on and his ailments started healing, he was finally able to begin therapy. He slowly started making progress. He was able to lift his arms and legs, as well as sit up. After months of living at the hospital, he was finally discharged to a 6 week intensive therapy program. During his short time there he made great strides and progress although when the program was completed, we all knew it was just the beginning of a long road to recovery. After finally returning home from a 6 month stay at two different hospitals, Richie once again faced a challenge. His Medicaid dropped him and he found himself without health insurance and therapy. After 3 months without any physical therapy, the progress he was once making had taken a turn for the worst. His hands are contracting and is unable to move any limbs. If he doesn’t get therapy soon, he will be a quadriplegic for the rest of his life. Unable to do basic things we all take for granted. We are trying to raise $6000 to get him into an in patient therapy program. We appreciate all the love, prayers and support we’ve received already and anything would help at this point. Thankyou to all our friends and family.
