Help Richard Wells Pay Medical and Living Expenses

2021 has been a difficult year for veteran Dick Wells. He began with heart valve replacement surgery, then was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He spent 7 weeks travelling to Missoula several days a week to receive chemotherapy and radiation, remaining optimistic and strong throughout the grueling treatment sessions, never faltering in his belief that the process would be successful. Then, in October, only days after he completed cancer treatment, he contracted COVID 19. After several hospitalizations, he is home, but is bedridden, and now needs 24-hour care. This is a lot for an 87-year old to handle in six short months.

Dick served his country during the Korean War in the Navy, and later in the National Guard. Following his service, he never failed to take the opportunity to advocate for his fellow veterans. Many in Sanders county are familiar with his unbridled pride in being a veteran. Dick was instrumental in getting the Disabled American Veterans van program implemented in Sanders county. He worked tirelessly fundraising for countless hours raising thousands of dollars for this program, which has served veterans all over the county for years now. He participated in numerous fundraising functions in order to buy and maintain the vans that now transport veterans to their medical appointments, a much-needed and much-appreciated service.

Now, Dick is in serious need. It’s time to help one of our county’s biggest helpers. During his treatments and various hospitalizations, Dick’s financial needs have become too much for his family, with fuel needs for heating his home, property taxes coming due, and the excess medical expenses, he is in dire need of your help.
