Richard Lopez is someone who has always put family first. In 2006, he made the selfless decision to donate a kidney to his brother David, giving him a second chance at life. While the surgery was a success and brought hope to his family, Richard has since faced a new health challenge as a result of his generosity.

 Recently, Richard developed an incisional hernia at the site of his kidney donation surgery. The hernia has caused a noticeable bulge on his side and brings with it the risk of serious complications, including the potential strangulation of digestive organs if it worsens. Living with this condition has been difficult, and the uncertainty about his health has weighed heavily on Richard and those who care about him.
