Many people around Ashland County probably recognize Richard Bland. You’ll often see him out walking — sometimes for quite a distance — as he makes his way around town.

I’ve known Richard for many years. We went to school together back in the 1980s, and I recently learned that his bicycle is either broken or in need of significant repairs. Richard has been volunteering at the Ashland Thrift Store, and without a working bike, he has to walk about an hour just to get there.

I would love for our community to come together and help Richard get reliable transportation again. Our goal is to raise enough money to repair his current bicycle if possible, or purchase him a new, dependable bike if that makes more sense. Any additional funds could go toward things he needs for the bike, such as a helmet, lock, lights, or future repairs.

I’m asking my friends and our Ashland community to consider giving—even just $5. A lot of $5 donations can add up quickly and make a huge difference for Richard.

If you’ve ever seen Richard walking around Ashland, here’s an opportunity to make some of those miles a little easier for him. ❤️

If you aren’t able to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much. Let’s see what our community can do for Richard!
