I applied for and was accepted to the Sunbridge HS teacher certification program in 2023. I started summer of July 2023 and it was (and is!) quite possibly one of ***THE BEST*** experiences. My first summer away was pure magic. I was among several cohorts (Early Childhood, Grades, HS, and music) that consisted of the most amazing individuals. Everyone there was a part of the Waldorf mission, and our mixed cohort/subject classes were beyond inspiring. The teachers are also stellar. Conversations and camaraderie spilled over into dinners and free time; where it was evident that we all felt so strongly about the Waldorf pedagogy and compared how we worked with the students in our various schools scattered across N. America. Many of us commented on how it felt like a "spa retreat for the soul". It also helped that it was in such a beautiful location. I left so inspired and my mind was flooded with ideas of how to alter or improve how I teach each one of my classes. I also have expanded my circle of not only friends, but people I can bounce ideas off of or ask for advice about Waldorf and/or anthroposophy. I felt truly seen and cared for by my new friends. The interim online sessions are just as inspiring, and we all can't wait to see each other again in person this summer.

These funds help me with out-of-pocket expenses for my two week stay at Sunbridge: flight to New York, on-site dorm stay, food/meals, rental vehicle, and books/materials/supplies.

While I am getting so, so, so much out of this experience, I am ultimately doing this for the students I serve here at Pasadena Waldorf. I am so committed to this education and committed to doing it here at PWS. I have a strong feeling that this education, in this day and age, is needed now more than ever.

As I enter my 10th year at PWS, I am truly blessed & beyond thankful to work where I do.
