<div>My name is Fidaa, and I hail from Gaza. Now residing in Vienna, I stand before you with a plea for compassion and support for my dear family trying to survive in Gaza.

<div>Meet My Family

<div>In October 2023, my family was forced to flee our cherished home as it was reduced to rubble, and they have been displaced for months. They found refuge in a cramped two-room flat in Rafah, sharing the limited space with 30 souls. This includes my mother Aisha, my sisters Jumana, Azhar, Suha, my brothers Ahmed, Jameel, Khalil – who lives with Down syndrome – as well as my adorable niece, Jawna (4), nephew Osama (2), and their mother Rohifa.

<div>Our hearts were further broken when we lost our beloved father, Said. He passed away in a hospital in the southern Gaza Strip while we were escaping، which too fell victim to the war, due to a dire lack of essential medications. Our family's livelihood, a thriving shoemaking business, was also claimed by the chaos of war.

<div>As the only family member abroad, I am in every possible way committed to their evacuation from Gaza – a place of profound memories and the crucible of my identity. Nothing surpasses the urgency of ensuring their safety and future.

<div>Financial Barrier

<div>War has stripped us of everything – our dad, our best friends, our home and our security. Yet, we cling to a glimmer of hope amidst the ruins.

<div>The financial barrier is sky high: USD 5,200 per person to cross the Rafah border into Egypt, totaling an overwhelming ~USD 50,000 for ten family members. It's only an evacuation fee! It's an unimaginable sum for me and for my family, but I strongly believe in people and with  your open hearts and support, we can forge a new path for those, who did nothing to deserve such a fate and whom I love as all other Palestinian injured in this war .

<div>Im Oktober 2023 wurde meine Familie gezwungen, unser geliebtes Zuhause zu verlassen, da es zu Trümmern reduziert wurde, und sie ist seit Monaten vertrieben. Sie fand Zuflucht in einer engen Zweizimmerwohnung in Rafah, wo sie den begrenzten Platz mit 30 anderen teilt. Dazu gehören meine Mutter Aisha, meine Schwestern Jumana, Azhar, Suha, meine Brüder Ahmed, Jameel, Khalil – der das Down-Syndrom hat – sowie meine bezaubernde Nichte Jawna (4), Neffe Osama (2) und ihre Mutter Rohifa.

<div>Unsere Herzen wurden weiter gebrochen, als wir unseren geliebten Vater, Said, verloren. Er verstarb in einem Krankenhaus im Süden des Gazastreifens, während wir auf der Flucht waren, das ebenfalls Opfer Des Krieges wurde, aufgrund eines dringenden Mangels an lebenswichtigen Medikamenten. Auch unser Familienunternehmen, ein florierendes Schuhmachergeschäft, ging im Chaos des Krieges verloren.

<div>Als einzige Familie im Ausland bin ich voll und ganz verpflichtet, sie aus Gaza zu evakuieren – einem Ort von tiefen Erinnerungen und dem Schmelztiegel meiner Identität. Nichts übertrifft die Dringlichkeit, ihre Sicherheit und Zukunft zu gewährleisten.

<div>Der Krieg hat uns alles genommen – unseren Vater, unsere besten Freunde, unser Zuhause und unsere Sicherheit. Dennoch klammern wir uns an einen Hoffnungsschimmer inmitten der Ruinen.

<div>Die finanzielle Hürde ist enorm hoch: mindestens USD 5.200 pro Person, um die Grenze von Rafah nach Ägypten zu überqueren, insgesamt überwältigende ~USD 50.000 für zehn Familienmitglieder. Es ist nicht nur eine Evakuierungsgebühr; es ist eine unvorstellbare Summe für mich und meine Familie. Dennoch glaube ich fest an die Menschen, und mit euren offenen Herzen und eurer Unterstützung können wir einen neuen Weg für diejenigen schaffen, die nichts getan haben, um ein solches Schicksal zu verdienen, und die ich genauso liebe wie alle anderen Palästinenser, die in diesem Krieg verletzt wurden.
