I'm the Founder, Executive Director of The Scholarship Academy, an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization that helps low-income families pursue college with minimum student loan debt.
After years of supporting students through one-on-one financial aid guidance, The Scholarship Academy has lost its AmeriCorps funding — a $300,000 impact that affects our 15 dedicated members that were serving as FAFSA Support Specialists and Scholarship Coordinators across 14 metro Atlanta Title I schools.
These members provided over 115,000 minutes of individual FAFSA and scholarship support to students across the region. Their work has been nothing short of transformative — helping first-generation, low-income students access the funding they need to pursue college. They've helped our organization claim a 75% FAFSA Completion rate, and students have raised over $4 million in scholarships this year alone!
With the future of Pell Grants and targeted private aid in flux, the work we do is more critical than ever. We’re calling on our community to step up and stand with us.
We're raising $20,000 to retain our members through the summer, and position our organization to roll out robust partnerships for the fall. Thank you for being a part of our village!
