Well, they say when it rains, it pours... 2025 has been evidence of that for us.

After already having to deal with a breast cancer diagnosis in January 2025, we've suffered another significant blow. In late April 2025, on what was supposed to be a routine boat move from being out at anchor into a slip at a marina for the summer, disaster struck. Due to steering issues, the boat ran aground in shallow water, capsized, and filled with water.

Our 1978 Formosa 51 Sailboat, Dream Chaser, is our home and now pretty much needs to be gutted and redone. We're currently waiting on a high enough tide to get her unstuck and finally to the dock where the recovery efforts will begin in earnest. We will have to replace many of the electrical components on the boat that were destroyed by the salt water. In the process of trying to get her unstuck, her mizzen mast was broken and needs to be repaired. Most of our personal belongings like clothes and bedding were significantly damaged by rust, grime, and diesel.

Send us lots of positive vibes, prayers, and well wishes for this big project, and if you can contribute financially, it would be very much appreciated.
