Help rescuing kittens of Conil | Neutering Program

Donation protected

To avoid unnecessary suffering and break the vicious cycle that repeats every year with kittens born on the street and little hope of survival, we are currently focussing on neutering cats and kittens in various cat colonies in the area.

By the end of April, we want to have 40-50 cats neutered. To pay for this we aim to raise 3000€.

=>UPDATE (June 2020): Due to the nationwide lockdown because of the Covid-19 crisis, we had to scale down our efforts. We have not been able to quite reach our goal but will start again now and hope to reach this number by the end of July 2020!

We are Street Cats Rescue* , a small not for profit organisation in Conil de la Frontera at the Costa de la Luz, Spain. We are a group of cat lovers working incessantly to improve the live of the local cat population in Conil and the surrounding area. Our aim is to reduce the number of stray kittens and cats.

Every year we are inundated with little kittens that are found in the streets and ditches, homeless, suffering from hypothermia or parasite infections, and close to death.

NOW IS THE TIME TO PREVENT THE UNNECESSARY SUFFERING AND MISERY OF UWANTED KITTENS

The beginning of the year, with longer days and warmer weather is the time when the mating season starts again for the cats. The right moment to focus on neutering.

In 2019 Street Cats Rescue looked after ca. 70 kittens over the duration of the year. Some of these little furries were left in rubbish bins or abandoned in ditches.

Especially when they are young these kitties are very susceptible for illnesses and severe diseases. On occasion we come too late to save them.

But even those who survive face a possibly unsafe future. It is impossible to find a home for all kittens and some actually never start trusting us humans enough to be homed.

Every little donation helps to pay for our neutering program as shown by these examples of approximate costs:

10€ anti parasite treatment
15€ one night hospitalisation after surgery (recommended for female cats)
35€ neutering of 1 male cat
45€ neutering of 1 female cat

☺️ Neutering street cats not only helps reduce the number of abandoned kittens on the street. Neutered cats generally have better health and increased life expectancy partly through more social behaviour. All in all the suffering for all street cats will be reduced with our neutering program and particularly the misery of unwanted, helpless kittens.

WE THANK YOU FOR YOU HELP.

We will be trapping and neutering at various locations in the area based on the needs and urgency. Beloware photos of one colony where we aim to trap. The kittens there are abandoned, malnourished and in poor health. As we progress with our work, we will post more photos and hopefully soon some videos.
