Help Sylvie a Foster Cat in Rescue

Meet Sylvie aka Vi

Hi everyone, if you don't know me, I'm Laura, a foster (volunteer) for the CNYCC. Whereas CNYCC usually takes care of the cost of spay and neuter for foster cats (which is an enormous help), I have two current cats who needed to be fixed at a regular veterinary practice for their safety. One (a spay) due to a very loud congenital heart murmur and the second (a neuter) of a double cryptorchid male, which is a notoriously "not fun" surgery that does not always yield the intended outcome. This GoFundMe is to raise money for the female cat Sylvie (aka Vi).

A last-minute cancellation allowed me to get her in tomorrow but I need to raise as much as I can before then in order for this to happen. If I go a few days overdue on the full cost, it's okay, but more than that is not. I wouldn't ask for help if I was capable of covering her expenses, but unfortunately, I'm not, and I don't want her to suffer as a result.

Sylvie (the spay) --> Total cost for Sylvie = approx $680 with preanesthetic bloodwork or $545 without preanesthetic bloodwork.
(goal amount will be with the bloodwork since that would be ideal)

Why Sylvie should be spayed at a regular Veterinary Practice:
The reason Sylvie isn't a good candidate for a spay/neuter clinic is due to having a very loud congenital heart murmur that has not been fully worked up due to the wait period and additional costs associated with a cardiology consult.

Because her spay is so important, it was prioritized; however, that means that we at the very least need to have the surgery done where monitoring can be thorough and drugs can be tailored to her needs.
Due to having just a few surgical procedures per day and the very in-depth monitoring at our disposal, for a cat like Sylvie, this could be the difference between life and death.
Monitoring is essentially the equivalent to what we have in human medicine, and so IF Sylvie were to have a problem under general anesthesia, it would hopefully allow for time for us to correct it. The range of drugs available is also usually more broad so that certain drugs can be chosen or avoided based on their safety with cats with murmurs.
And because of the number of procedures that day, Vi will be monitored constantly by a technician for the entirety of her anesthetic event.

Why get Sylvie spayed ASAP:
Sylvie is already three and has been bred at least once. Every heat she goes through increases her likelihood of getting mammary cancer down the line by a small percentage. Not to mention, at any point, she could develop an infection in her uterus called pyometra (a condition that is life-threatening and requires emergency spay and hospitalization in a number of cases). Additionally, the fact that Vi should never ever be bred again is something that is important to those who care about her, and thankfully we have the ability to make that 100% impossible. Breeding her even once is a huge shame and vastly unethical since her heart murmur was passed to all or most of her offspring, and her pregnancy was more risky for her.

Please share if you can, donate if you are able, and send positive vibes that we will raise the money for Vi's spay in time :-)

Vi and I thank you greatly in advance for anything you're able to do to help.
