Help Replace My Family's Refrigerator

Donation protected
Unfortunately, our household's main refrigerator has finally died, after nearly 20 years of reliable service, and we don't have the money to replace it, so storing any perishable foods has become rather... difficult, to say the least.

My family is on a limited fixed income, and we weren't prepared for our one vital large appliance to just fail on us at this time. We've done everything we can think of to try to fix it for over a week now, including ordering some of the cheaper electro-mechanical (yes, it's that old) components off eBay that YouTube videos have told us to try replacing.

Nothing has worked. The compressor is likely dead, and this component was never meant to be replaced. Even if it could be replaced, we can't find any replacements for it on eBay or elsewhere on the internet, despite searching numerous times.

For all intents and purposes, this fridge is dead now and we need to get a new one as soon as possible so that we can actually store a decent amount of food again. We need one with at least the same capacity as the old one: 21 cubic feet. Unfortunately, fridges that large also come with a large price tag.

I really didn't want to start a new GoFundMe campaign, especially so soon after the hugely successful previous one. However, I still haven't managed to get a new job since that last one, not for lack of trying. I'd forgotten just how long the process of getting a new job can take.

In the meantime, what good is the dwindling amount of food money I have left, if I can't buy anything perishable? I even had to throw out some of the food I bought when the fridge initially died, as I couldn't eat it all before it spoiled.

Tensions are rising in my household because everyone used that fridge, but my father expects me to pay for most of the cost of a new one. I don't know how I can do that without a job, but all attempts to get this fact through to him have failed so far. I keep telling him that I need to save the rest of my savings for food itself.

...

Things haven't exactly been going well in my household lately, and this sudden emergency has only made the situation worse. I won't go into the unpleasant details here, as I'm not ready to divulge them in public yet.

However, I will say that this is more of a factor in the urgency than being able to store perishable food again. Being able to replace this fridge will greatly ease the tensions in my household, and hopefully make my father more understanding of my job search situation.
