The Nectary Sebastopol Relief Efforts

Donation protected
As the Laguna de Santa Rosa overflowed, water crept into the Barlow threatening our livelihood, our businesses and our community. The flooding continued throughout the course of Tuesday evening and Wednesday, raising waters within our Sebastopol shop to nearly shoulder height. Our sweet shop of nectar has been completely turned inside out, leaving nothing but contaminated products and all our equipment piled up on top of one another. To see our shop in such despair is heartbreaking .. rather there are no words to describe watching the past five years drown in murky waters, unable to do anything but wait for the waters to recede, begin to comprehend what has just happened and through it all, try to formulate a plan to get back to serving our community.

This community has showered us with tremendous love and support over the past five years and with that, we seek to return to a sense of normalcy, which is hard to imagine at this time. As you can see from the pictures, we have a long road to recovery. Not only will we have to pick up the pieces, but our entire inventory has been contaminated. We will throw out thousands of dollars of retail inventory, likely have to replace most of our equipment and that’s just scratching the surface. We are in disbelief.  We are looking to answer questions that don’t have an answer yet.

Though the journey will be long, we are strong and resilient. The Nectary is part of something bigger than our sweet shop. We are part of West County, a community that supports local makers and creators, and continuously seeks to show the abundance of our lands. It’s a community that comes together no. matter. what. That’s why we are asking for your help, which isn’t easy to do. We want to be back in business as soon as possible and that requires replacing a lot of costs upfront. Any donation you can give is appreciated more than you’ll ever know. We encourage your support for our local businesses by shopping local. Once many of the businesses reopen, please visit them.

We are grateful for the safety of our employees, our neighbors and our community. Thank you to all the responders and volunteers who have worked tirelessly the past week. We cannot begin to imagine how much worse our conditions would be without their steadfast help.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
