Our community group is working to transform an old, vacant church into a vibrant community center that will serve Detroit, Oak Park, Royal Oak Township, and Ferndale. For over three years, the building stood empty and became an eyesore, while crime and unemployment in the area continued to rise. We believe that by renovating this space, we can create a safe, welcoming place where people from all walks of life can come together, support one another, and access vital resources.
The funds we raise will go directly toward essential renovations: installing cabinets and commercial appliances in the prep area, updating restrooms, laying new flooring in 11 rooms, adding laundry facilities, repairing the roof, installing a drop ceiling, upgrading air conditioning and electrical systems, and improving security with a new gate and fence. Each improvement brings us closer to opening our doors and offering a space where everyone feels at home.
Once complete, the center will provide a wide range of resources and programs, including workforce training, job readiness, expungement clinics, legal workshops, small business incubators, health and wellness events, youth development, community meetings, nonprofit mentorship, and family-focused events. We invite you to join us in making this vision a reality. Your support will help us build a brighter, stronger future for our entire community.
