Help Relieve Jackie's Glaucoma

Donation protected
Our family dog, Jackie, has lost her eyesight and is profoundly blind due to a genetic condition called Glaucoma.  Glaucoma is defined as an increase in pressure in the eye with a loss of vision. The disease is painful, especially when the eye pressure is very high. Normal pressure is below 25mmHg in dogs, Jackie’s left eye is 70mmHg, which is extremely high. The pressure is extremely painful, resembling an intense sinus pressure or severe migraine headache.

Unfortunately, Jackie’s eyes did not respond well to previous medical therapy and the veterinarian recommended surgery called Chemical Ablation. During this procedure, a combination of medications is injected into the eye. These medications destroy a significant portion of the ciliary body which is the gland inside the eye that produces fluid. This will permanently decrease the amount of fluid produced inside the eye, therefore reducing pressure. The procedure is successful in 80-90% of patients.

We are hoping to do this procedure as soon as possible to relieve Jackie of this pain. Jackie is the sweetest dog and we love her very much. She’s 12 years old and we want to give her comfort and love for her remaining years with us.

This procedure costs $2,300 and any help and donations would be greatly appreciated.
