Help Reed’s Fight with Glioblastoma

Donation protected
Help us bring peace and comfort to a husband, father and friend who is fighting an unimaginable battle.  The increasing cost to maintain a minimum level of comfort is too much for one family to bare alone.  This cost includes special dietary needs, travel expenses to and from daily appointments; and the hope to fulfill his dream of seeing Lake Buchanan in Texas one last time.

The constant around the clock care has caused the inability of his wife and other family members to maintain a full-time job.  The cancer has depreciated his level of comprehension and understanding, as well as a loss of physical function.  Due to this, his required amount of care is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For those who don’t know, this past April, Reed suffered a grand mal seizer.  An MRI revealed a tumor in his brain.  This tumor was determined to be Glioblastoma, the same form of brain cancer that recently took the life of John McCain.  The tumor had progressed rapidly to grade 4 and needed to be removed; and this past summer Reed underwent surgery.  The doctors were unable to remove the full tumor which led to the tough decision of proceeding with treatment or not.

Reed made the decision to accept a very aggressive form of treatment known as the Oklahoma Cyber Knife (radiation), alongside intense chemotherapy.  These daily treatments began last month in September and have been a grueling process.

For those who know Reed, know that he has always been a fighter and has won many battles.  He survived Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and has persevered as a chronic heart failure patient for the past three years.  On October 1, he turned 62 years young, but is now fighting his hardest battle yet, an undoubtedly terminal illness.

Through his twisted sense of humor and unceasing compassion he has always been the light in a dark world.  It is unknown how long Reed has left to spend with his loved ones, it could be anywhere from a few months to a few years, God willing.   Yet, for his family to imagine a world without him is unbearably painful, but that reality must be faced.  We are asking for help to bring that light back to him and to keep him smiling through these final days.

Thank you for taking the time and considering Reed's journey.  Any assistance is greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.  Much love to you all.
